Okay, so day 1 (Thursday) was our NASA HQ tours where we met with
Debbie Ladwig (Exploration Office)
Angela Diaz (Legislative Affairs)
Al Diaz (Office of Science)
Garvey McIntosh (External Relations)
Day 2 was Friday, and it was our day at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland (this is the furthest east in the US that I've ever spent time). The schedule for that ran like this:
7am: Leave the House, breakfast and badging at GSFC
9am: Dr. Jim Green
10am: Mary Kicza
11am: Dr. Paul Lowman (who reminded me how much I love geologists and scientists that have been around NASA a long time; talk to Apollo people every chance you get!)
noon: Lunch!
1pm: Dr. Jim Garvin, who was a Chief Scientist and cool Mars guy
2pm: Dr. Jonathan Gardner, a James Web Space Telescope guy
Then we got an overview of MSFC by an alum, followed by some time at the gift shop/visitor's center and then some tours of some of the big GSFC labs and clean rooms.
Thank you to Dave Rosage, Laura Burns, and Danielle Adams for setting up this awesome, awesome trip!
That night our group split up and went with the split up GSFC group to several different locations around DC and College Park. Eventually we all found our way back to the U of Maryland campus where we stayed in the frat house that the GSFC Academy lives. That night we got the longest stretch of sleep we'd get the whole trip. :-)
